What is Git

A shell with an empty Git repository waiting in ~/practice and your identity already set. Make commits, branch, merge, rebase and recover from mistakes with the real Git command line.

What is included

Git with a preconfigured name and email
A repository in ~/practice to start from
vim and nano for commit messages

Good to know

No internet access and no sudo inside the sandbox
A session with no typing for 30 minutes is closed to free its seat
Your files are removed when the session ends
If every seat is taken, the page waits and retries for you

Commands

Everyday Git

Allowed:

Record history
- init, add, commit, status, log, diff, show
- A repository ready in ~/practice

Branching

Allowed:

Work in parallel
- branch, switch, checkout, merge, rebase, cherry-pick
- Tags and annotated tags

Undoing mistakes

Allowed:

Recover
- restore, reset, revert, stash, reflog
- clean and amend

Remotes

Allowed:

Local remotes
- A bare repository as a remote: git init --bare
- clone, fetch, pull and push between folders
