What is AWS

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a cloud platform: instead of buying servers, you rent compute, storage, databases and networking by the hour and manage them through a web console, an API, or the aws command line.

Most day-to-day cloud work happens in that command line: creating users and permissions, storing files in buckets, starting and stopping servers, and setting alarms and budgets. That is what this playground lets you practise.

AWS playground

The aws command in this playground is an offline practice copy of the real AWS CLI. It accepts the same commands, flags, file:// parameters, --query filters and --output json|text, and it fails with the same kind of error messages.

Behind it is a simulated account (always 123456789012) stored in your home folder. Nothing reaches the internet, nothing costs money, and the account is wiped when your session ends.
